Silent Valley, Mourne - Irish Landscapes
The Silent Valley is a man-made reservoir near Kilkeel. It was built between 1923 and 1933 with a workforce of over 1000 men, 9 of whom died in the process of its construction. The catchment area for the reservoir is defined by the Mourne wall, which took 18 years to complete and is 22 miles long.
